Artistic director Simona Bucci

Simona Bucci, dancer of Alwin Nikolais Dance Company of New York; coordinator of the Accademia Isola Danza of the Biennale di Venezia; assistant to Carolyn Carlson; artistic director of Compagnia Imago, founded in Florence in 1983. In 2002 she founded the Compagnia Simona Bucci and premiered a new work Di Ombre Cerchiati gli Occhi, in coproduction with the La Biennale di Venezia.
 
In November 2004 the Company premiered Path a solo dedicated to Alwin Nikolais and Nik, a lecture demonstration about Alwin Nikolais.
 
In November 2005 The Company premiered a new work I Rimasti, inspired by Angelo Morbelli’s painting “Il Natale dei rimasti” (Christmas in the hospice), awarded by “Danza & Danza” and “Coreografo d’Europa”, as the Best Italian Contemporary Dance Choreography.
 
In 2007 the Biennale of Venice commissioned Arresi alla notte, co-produced by the Oriente Occidente festival.
 
In 2008 the Company debuted with its first children’s piece Giorgio e il drago (George and the Dragon), freely inspired on “St. George and the Dragon”, co-produced by La Corte Ospitale and Fondazione I Teatri di Reggio Emilia.
 
In 2009 Indissolubile eco, a duo freely inspired by Francisco Goya’s etching “Disparate Matrimonial”.
 
In 2010 the Company presented a study of Boxville, its second work for a young audience as a tribute to Alwin Nikolais on the centenary of his birth (1910-2010).
 
In 2011 it premiered Giuditta e Oloferne, co-production Fondazione I Teatri di Reggio Emilia, with the support of CCN - Centre Chorégraphique National di Roubaix.
 
In 2012 Malbianco, inspired on the novel “Blindness” by Josè Saramago, Carmelo Scarcella e Frida Vannini and Simona Bucci’s artistic director.
 
May 2014 Enter Lady Macbeth, choreographed by Simona Bucci.
 
The Company Simona Bucci, always interested in the work of young artists-choreographers of his company, over the years has supported and co-produced the following choreographies: Giulia Mininel, E se il mondo fosse a testa in giù e Vita da gatti; Eleonora Chiocchini, Frane; Françoise Parlanti, Pensiero liquido; Roberto Lori, Suoni invasivi, Aretusa_canto delle acque nelle metamorfosi e Vorticando; Michela Paoloni, Ultima fiaba.
